Pregnancy Announcement!

Monday, August 11, 2014

Today marks 12 weeks of me being pregnant! Ralph and I decided on this day to announce the pregnancy because August 11th is a special day for us - Ralph proposed to me, on this day, 2 years ago.

I didn't really think of doing anything special with the announcement until the weekend leading up to the 11th. I really wanted to use "Share a Coke with..." cans that had "Mom" and "Dad" on them, but I was too lazy to go to more than one store (I went to one Target and gave up right away haha).

So I went through Pinterest and searched for some pregnancy announcement ideas. The easiest/cheapest idea I found was taking a series of pictures where the parents-to-be were blowing up balloons that revealed the news when the balloons were big enough. Luckily for me, my mom had a stash of unused balloons, and there was a pink one and a blue one. Here was the outcome:
I'm really happy with how it turned out!

In a couple of days, I'll be having a NT (nuchal translucency) ultrasound, which is a screening test for certain disorders. Let's hope everything will be okay!

10 Weeks & 4 Days

It's been quite some time since I've posted here!

Since my last post, I've gone to the doctor's twice. My OB-GYN is Dr. Boehmer, and the nurse that usually works with him is Claudia. For my first ultrasound, I was 7 weeks and 0 days...my biggest issues were SEVERE constipation and morning sickness. He did a vaginal ultrasound and was able to get a picture of our little tadpole:

A couple of days ago, I had another doctor's appointment - that day, I was 10 weeks and 2 days. I'm STILL having severe constipation, but my morning sickness hasn't been as bad. He did another ultrasound, and our tadpole looked like this:

Look how big it has gotten! And I love the picture on the bottom - "Wuddup, world!"

I really need to start losing/maintaining weight...because my doc said I'm gaining too much too early. I must admit - I have been eating a lot of carbs (pasta/pizza/bread) because it's the only thing that won't make me sick. Hopefully by next week, my morning sickness will have completely subsided and I won't be as tired. That way, I can eat more protein (chicken and eggs...blegh) and exercise on a daily basis.

Ralph and I also decided to do pre-screening tests so we know if our baby will or will not be born with a genetic disorder. I have done a few blood tests already, and on my birthday, I'm scheduled to have a special ultrasound. Hopefully, everything will be okay. It'll be the only thing I want for my 27th birthday. :)
