Fun Facts About Owen:

  • Loves taking baths and swimming
  • Has re-discovered his love for pacifiers
  • Stands up and side-steps while holding on to furniture
  • Loves bananas, oatmeal, and turkey with sweet potatoes; dislikes peaches and green vegetables

Nothing really new has happened this past month. The only difference is that Owen is more active than ever! He crawls super fast, stands up whenever and wherever he can, and puts EVERYTHING in his mouth. Every day, Ralph and I set up the living room as a big play pen, blocking off hazardous things with big pillows, the ottoman, etc. - seems to be working out, but Owen is a smart cookie and is learning to break through the barriers. (Help.)

Earlier this month, Owen had his 6-month appointment. He's now 18 pounds and a little over 26 inches long, which is all normal. He also got his shots, and the poor guy had a fever the rest of the day. Unfortunately for him, Mama caught a bug at work, which he and Daddy acquired in no time at all. We were snotty and miserable for over a week, but we're all okay now.

Soooo, last month, I mentioned that he had a tooth coming out. Well, it went away a couple of days before we went to the doctor's. The doctor said it happens a lot, since the gums swell, causing the tooth to "play peek-a-boo" before it comes out completely. The tooth has not re-appeared, but we suspect it will, since Owen is just a drooling machine.

His onesies are always soaked with drool.

A few days ago, we had Owen try Puffs for the first time. We fed him pieces before putting a few whole ones down on his table.

He'd reach for one, grab it, and put his fist to his mouth; unfortunately, the Puff would just stick to his sweaty palm, and he got frustrated real fast. He still lacks the dexterity to pick a piece with his fingers and put it in his mouth. I tried helping, but he was pretty much over it.

Maybe in a couple of weeks, bubba. :)

And here are some outtakes of this month's photo shoot. This month's theme is in honor of Owen's Mexican heritage and Mexico's Independence Day, which was on September 16th. A big thank you to Owen's Nana (Ralph's mom) for the suggestion!

This was the very first take, but I soon realized that Owen should have been placed on the left side so we could see his face better.

Time to take a break!

As you can see...it's not as easy as it seems.

I was about to lose hope of getting a decent picture because he started to get cranky...but the photo we used was the very last one.

Good job, kid!

Now to enjoy the spoils of battle! Or whatever.
